High Meadows Beef began as a way to share the values, methods, and ranching practices that have helped us raise healthy kids and exceptional cattle. What started as a way to feed our own family has grown into a mission to provide premium, all-natural beef to people who care about how their food is raised.
Our ranching roots go back to 1915, when the Whittaker family ranch was founded in the rugged Lemhi Valley of Idaho. Over the past century, each generation has carried forward the same dedication to hard work, integrity, and stewardship of the land. Today, Chase and Megan Whittaker lead the fifth generation, raising their five ranch-raised kids on the same mountain pastures that have sustained their family for over 100 years.
Our cattle are a composite of 75% Black Angus and 25% American Saler—a cross known for exceptional marbling, strong mothering instincts, and the ability to thrive in Idaho’s high country. Raised at over 6,000 feet, our cattle graze on slow-growing, nutrient-dense mountain grasses that produce rich, flavorful beef without the need for grain or feedlots. The grass here is simply that good.
More than a ranch, High Meadows Beef is a way of life built around values that guide everything we do. We’re raising our children to:
1. Know how to work
2. Be confident
3. Believe they can accomplish anything they set their minds to
These principles shape not only our family but also our business. In an industry that demands commitment, faith, and grit, these values are what keep us grounded and grateful.
When you buy from us, you’re not just getting high-quality beef—you’re joining a community that values honesty, transparency, and tradition. Every cut we sell comes with "one ranch, one animal" traceability, flash-frozen freshness, and a personal connection to the land and people who raised it.
We love sharing the ranch life with our customers through stories, recipes, and tips that bring families together around the table. Once you experience High Meadows Beef, we’re confident you’ll taste the difference—and feel good about what you’re feeding your family.
